Re: URL to Internet

Hmm. Both programs work regardless if the message is prefixed with http:// or ftp://. I guess I misunderstood that that the data was available only by FTP. Is this all a molehill? Over and out.

Re: URL to Internet

It did indeed work quite well. Thank you. I never would have thought to look in Rosetta for the sample code. Here's a working demo, to save others a bit of head scratching. URL$="http://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/observations/metar/stations/KPHL.TXT" FileName$="ReceivedData$" Return...

Re: URL to Internet

I got some information from the National Weather Service. The data that I am looking for is available on an FTP server in text format. If I send the following URL from my browser, it displays the returned text in the format of a time stamp, followed by the METAR text for a particular weather station...

Re: URL to Internet

As I recall, it sent a message to one of your websites and printed the reply, HTML code, to the mainwin.

Re: URL to Internet

OK. Thanks. I understand. I have sent an e-mail to the U. S. National Weather Service, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for a reply. I once sent an e-mail to the FBI and it took them six months to respond, with no meaningful information. In the meantime could you possibly re-post the demo progr...

Re: URL to Internet

Thanks for the quick reply, Richard. I hope all is well with you. I don't know the difference between TCP and UDP. I remember testing the demo program and it worked beautifully. You warned that a response might be delayed a long time. I would like to write a small program to send a message to a weat...

URL to Internet

A couple of years ago a demo program was posted that sent an Internet message to a URL and received the response. I can't find this posting on the old forum. Does anyone remember how to code those functions?

Thanks,
Jack

Re: Left Border of Editor Window

The standard Text Editor and Text Box controls don't have a 'bevel' by default. What type of control is the IDE editor window, that it does have a bevel? Do you have any options on the style attributes of the IDE editor window?

Re: Left Border of Editor Window

if you move the mouse pointer very slowly toward the left edge of the edit window, when it is over the narrow 'bevel' it changes to a right-pointing arrow. If you click the mouse in this position, it selects the whole line.
